VW’s Latest Caddy Hits SA
VW’s treats South Africans to their latest Caddy.
This month sees VW Commercial Vehicles introducing South Africans to their latest generation Caddy panel van, a model which I am sure many small businesses and larger families have been waiting for with bated breath!
Being a panel van, one can’t expect much in terms of styling as function tends to dictate form with these kinds of vehicles but nonetheless, VW has found ways to incorporate new and striking sporty design elements that speak to the company's current design language. The updated exterior features also include new LED headlights and rear lights, painted body colour bumpers and blacked-out roof rails. Apart from these standard options, the optional exteriors include a 1.4m² panoramic sunroof, 16-inch Wien alloy wheels and a tow bar rated for haul 1500kg! Apart from the new styling, the Caddy is also available in 12 exterior paint colours with five new colours having been added to the list.
Just like the exterior makeover, VW chose not to skimp on the interior and adorned it with their latest new high-tech solutions and added space. In fact, the Caddy Maxi Cargo model can now swallow two standard Euro Pallets, and if you know anything about cargo and shipping, you would know that is an impressive achievement for a vehicle in this class.
Aside from the visual upgrades, the new Caddy range has also been adorned with some of Volkswagen’s most advanced driver assistance systems. These include Cruise ControlPark Assist paired with the Rear-View Camera and Trailer Manoeuvring which will give you the confidence needed to guide a trailer easily when reversing.
Powering the Caddy is a choice of two engine options, 1.6i with 81kW and 2.0 TDI with 81kW which both offer exceptional fuel economy.
Apart from all the new features, VW has also decided to give the Caddy range a new naming convention, and now you can opt for a Caddy, Caddy Maxi, Caddy Kombi, Caddy Maxi Kombi, Caddy Cargo or Caddy Maxi Cargo.
Pricing for the new Caddy (which you can find below) starts from R484,200 and includes a 3-year / 120,000km warranty for the Caddy and Caddy Maxi passenger derivatives, while the caddy Kombi, Caddy Maxi Kombi, Caddy Cargo and Caddy Maxi Cargo come standard with a 2-year / unlimited-kilometre warranty. The entire Volkswagen Caddy range also comes standard with a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty with service intervals sitting 15,000 kilometres.
