Kia Carnival Named AutoGuide’s Family Vehicle of the Year

Kia’s impressive Carnival takes home the AutoGuide Family Vehicle of the Year Award.

AutoGuide, one of the USA’s most respected consumer automotive websites has just named the 2022 Kia Carnival their Family Vehicle of the Year in recognition of its impressive interior capacity, extensive safety features, and modern design.

Reaching this point was no easy point for the Kia, as it was pitted against no less than 40 finalists which all had to impress AutoGuide's judging panel of 7 Editors and Reporters. These judges scored the finalist on a multitude of criteria which included value for many, user-friendliness, space, and safety to name just a few. Given these judging criteria, the Kia Carnival took top honours thanks to its stylish “SUV-like exterior” and large interior, along with its suite of safety features and the strong value it brings to the segment.

Speaking in response to the award, Steven Center, COO and EVP of Kia America said “The Kia Carnival MPV is truly a multi-purpose vehicle and breaks the mould of what many perceive a vehicle like this should be” further adding “AutoGuide’s Family Vehicle Award celebrates the Carnival’s premium design and abundant safety technology and further validates the Carnival’s wide-reaching appeal.”

Adding to what Center had said, Kyle Patrick, AutoGuide Editor could not hide his praise for Kia’s MPV saying “It's not just the cool, crossover-adjacent styling. Nor is it those first-class middle-row seats. The Carnival is such an impressive package because it blends that together with a smooth driving demeanour and lots of standard safety equipment. That it rings in as one of the most affordable in its segment solidifies it as the vehicle of choice for families.”

The 7-seater (with an 8th seat option) Kia Carnival was launched locally back in January 2022 to overwhelmingly positive reviews is available to South African buyers with a 148kW 2.2 CRDI diesel engine and 8-speed automatic gearbox. Pricing for the Carnival starts from R799,995 for the Ex-7-seater model and climbs to R1,024,995 for the top of the range SXL 7-seater.
