Audi’s e-tron Brand Creates Sparks
Audi launches their electric e-tron range in South Africa.
Cape Town’s largest museum of contemporary African art, the award-winning Zeitz MOCAA played host to Audi South Africa’s Night of Progress, the official launch and celebration of the arrival of the company’s new luxury e-tron electric vehicle brand.
The occasion which was celebrated on the palindrome date of 22/02/2022 was more than just a launch, but also the acknowledgement of a major milestone for the VAG Group in South Africa as they introduce their premium, sustainable, and all-electric vehicle options to South African consumers.
Audi’s shift towards electric vehicles has already proven successful around the world as the company enjoys the title of being the market leader in the luxury electric vehicle segment as they offer the largest range of fully electric vehicles. In fact, in 2021, Audi’s electric vehicle sales rose by 58% in just one year.
In his address to the attendees, Head of Audi South Africa Sascha Sauer said “From 2022 onwards, Audi South Africa is committed to growing the e-tron model range locally and will introduce at least one new electric model each year, to grow consumer choice and to demonstrate our commitment in securing a leading electric vehicle position within the premium automotive market from the start here in South Africa. But of course, it doesn’t stop at just a product level. Audi has also partnered with GridCars and invested in building the largest and fastest electric vehicle public charging network in the country.”
As part of Audi’s e-tron launch, an e-tron 55 First edition will be available for sale in South Africa from the second half of 2022 through Audi’s 10 dedicatd e-tron dealerships nationwide. This model offers up to 300kW of power (408Hp) and a range of up to 441 kilometres.
